NARRATOR: The TOEFL iBT paper edition is a convenient and comfortable option for test takers who prefer to test on paper. Most important, the paper edition is the TOEFL iBT test, so it has the same content in scoring as the TOEFL iBT test you take in a test center and the TOEFL iBT Home Edition.

You take the reading, listening, and writing sections on paper at a test center, and you take the speaking section at home on your own computer.

To register for the paper edition on the TOEFL website, select TOEFL iBT Paper Edition, then you make two appointments.

First, select your test center appointment date and time.

At the Test Center.

When you go to the test center, make sure you bring your ID, pencils and erasers, and your confirmation email, which has information you will need to enter on your answer sheet.

You should also bring a mask, which is required at many test centers. Some test centers may also require a health screening or proof of vaccination. Check with the test center directly about their policies.

When you arrive, you will show your ID and follow the check in procedures.

You will be assigned a test seat and you will receive a test booklet and an answer sheet. Follow the proctors instructions to fill out your answer sheet. You will need information from your confirmation email.

Each section of the test starts and ends for everyone at the same time do not go ahead or back to any other section of the test.

A row of stop signs. This is the end of Section 1. If you finish before time is called you may check your work on Section 1 only. Do not work on any other section of the test. The test administrator will tell you when to begin the next section.

Most of the directions and all audio test content will be played through speakers in the room. Some test rooms may use headphones.

Fill in the circles on your answer sheet properly so that they can be read by the scanner.

When you return, you will complete the writing section. The two essays are timed separately, so do not start the second essay until you are told to do so.

At the end of the test, you can choose to report or cancel your scores. If you cancel, your scores will be canceled for the whole test, including the speaking section.

Within three days, you will take the speaking section of the test at home. Before your speaking test, make sure that you do a final check of your computer equipment and your testing environment.

At your scheduled start time, you will check in with the proctor and show your ID. Follow the directions on screen to complete the speaking test.

Report or Cancel Scores

When you're finished, you will be asked if you want to report or cancel your test scores. If you cancel, it will cancel your scores for the whole test, not just the speaking section.

You will receive your scores 11 to 13 business days after your speaking test. Paper edition score reports include my best scores, which combine your scores from multiple tests. If you need to send additional free score reports, you can do so in your ETS account. Comfort, convenience, value, that's the TOEFL iBT paper edition.
