About the Praxis Braille Proficiency Test

The Praxis Braille Proficiency test is paper delivered and has two parts:

• a selected-response section assessing your ability to read Braille
• a performance assessment section assessing your ability to produce embossed Braille text from printed text using both a slate and stylus and a manual braillewriter

How to register

Before registering, review The Praxis^® Tests Information Bulletin (PDF) for program information, payment and registration policies, and contact information. Once you have reviewed the Bulletin, you can register for the Braille Proficiency test through your Praxis account.
 

2022–23 dates and deadlines

Important dates and deadlines information

• Not all test centers are open on all test dates. See Schedule a Test to determine when the test is available at your test center.
• You must register by the dates listed above. Registration deadlines are effective until 11:59 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time on the specified date. 
• If you miss the regular deadline and register by the extended deadline, there’s a fee of $45.

The Braille Proficiency test is currently required in Mississippi, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Virginia and West Virginia. See Where to Test to find test centers and see which dates the test is available.
 

Prepare for your test

Scores

Your scores will be available in your Praxis account. Find your score reporting date.

If you feel you didn’t perform to your potential on the test, you can cancel your scores before they’re reported. Once you cancel your scores, they cannot be reinstated.

To cancel, contact ETS no later than 5 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time on the Monday following your test date.
