Praxis Elementary Education: Content Knowledge for Teaching (CKT) Assessment

Designed for teacher candidates seeking a generalist elementary school license, the CKT assessment measures candidates’ understanding of Elementary Education subject matter and their ability to use that knowledge. The tasks focus on how well they can apply their content knowledge to recognize, understand and respond to the content problems they’ll encounter in their day-to-day teaching practice.

There are four CKT subtests: Reading and Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. They contain selected-response questions, and the Mathematics test also includes numeric-entry questions. Candidates can take the subtests separately or as a combined test. All of them are computer delivered.
